He is called Dr. Ryland Grace 3 times, Dr. Grace 34 times. He is called Mr. Grace 2 times, in both cases by his students.

There is only one time where the narrator refers to himself as Ryland outside of direct speech and that's in 10.024: “Stop being stupid, Ryland.”

In 20.102 he does also refer to himself as Ryland but in direct speech (seething to himself). So apparently he calls himself Ryland when he is mad with himself or thinks he’s being stupid.

Narration aside, Grace speaks in all 30 chapters.

He is not always the top speaker (by tokens). In 9 chapters he is the second speaker. In 2 chapters (8 and 14) he is only the third speaker (beaten by Dr. Lokken and Stratt and then Leclerc and Stratt respectively).

He is the only speaker in 3 chapters (chapters 7, 27, and 28).

Grace speaks in 105 of the 116 sections and is the only speaker in 25 sections.

In 24 sections he is the second speaker. In 4 sections he is only the third speaker, beaten by Stratt and either Dr. Lokken (Section 32), Leclerc (Sections 52 and 54), or Dr. Lamai (Section 57).
