Rocky is from the same star system as Spock!
In a July 1991 Sky & Telescope article, Gene Roddenberry and three astronomers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics identify 40 Eridani as Vulcan's sun.
I check the corresponding star in my catalog: It’s called 40 Eridani.
