#135 λ+λ

Commander Yáo is first mentioned in 04.129 when Grace finds his jumpsuit and sees the name tag 姚. Grace recalls him as “young and striking, eyes full of determination” and ”stern but reasonable”.

In 04.143 we find out his full name was Yáo Li-Jie.

In Space sections, Yáo is mentioned again in Chapters 6, 7, 25, and 26.

We are introduced to him alive for the first time in Chapter 16. He also appears in Earth sections in Chapters 18, 21 and 23.

Yáo’s direct speech consists of 16 quoted passages, 194 tokens, and 116 unique words.

He is the only character to say the words ‘handgun’, ‘methods’, ‘weapon’, ‘utilized’, ‘selecting’, ‘volition’, ‘ammunition’, ‘gratitude’, ‘deepest’, ‘tragedy’, or ‘type-92’ and the only person other than the narrator to use the words ‘tasks’, ‘dry’, ‘understood’, ‘issue’, ‘meetings’, ‘urge’, or ‘refuse’.

The token count here is spaCy’s tokenization minus punctuation.

Unique words here means unique lemmas (with lemmatization also from spaCy) with minor corrections as we find mistakes.

Speaker identification was done manually.

Of course I know. Commander Yáo.
